Bhaskar Mishra

Bhaskar Mishra works as the Child Protection Specialist (Birth Registration) with UNICEF, Tanzania Country Office, and is based in Dar es Salaam. He works in close coordination with the Government of Tanzania in the implementation of the new decentralised birth registration system and is the technical lead from the UNICEF side.

From November 2012 to March 2016, Bhaskar Mishra worked with UNICEF, India Country Office in the Policy Planning and Evaluation section.

From November 2007 to November 2012, he coordinated and supervised the implementation of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System in India as the Deputy Registrar General, India in the Office of Registrar General and Census Commissioner, Government of India. During this period, he also supervised the conduct of demographic surveys such as the Sample Registration System (SRS), the Annual Health Survey. The census-taking in Bihar, the 3rd most populous state in India, was also done under his supervision.

He was part of the Indian Statistical Service from 1997 to 2016.
