Dr Martin Bratschi (PhD) is a CRVS systems and public health expert working as the Deputy Director, Technical Implementation for the CRVS Improvement Program at Vital Strategies. Martin is supporting the technical implementation of CRVS system strengthening and mortality measurement activities in 15 countries. This involves strategic discussion with national stakeholders and global partners aimed at institutionalizing and scaling CRVS system improvements. Martin’s focus is on improving CRVS system architecture and vital events registration coverage by ensuring that all known births and deaths are registered; implementing verbal autopsy as part of the CRVS system; and developing guidance to promote existing and emerging best practice for the improvement of CRVS systems around the globe.
Martin’s previous experience is in strengthening national infectious disease control programs and implementing new disease control strategies.
