Nicholas Oakeshott is the Senior Identity Management Officer in UNHCR’s Division of Programme Support and Management. Between 2012 and 2017 he was posted to UNHCR’s Regional Officer in Bangkok as the Regional Protection Officer (Statelessness). He contributed to the World Bank’s eLearning Course on CRVS and acts as the facilitator for the module on refugees, IDPs and stateless persons. Before joining UNHCR, he practiced as a barrister in the UK, worked for NGOs providing legal advice and representation to asylum seekers, refugees and stateless persons and held positions as a visiting lecturer in law at a number of Universities. He studied Modern History at Oxford University and law at City University, the Inns of Court School of Law and the University of Essex, specializing in international human rights law.
